THE PRODUCER

Founded in 2016, Agri Evolve was established in response to challenges within the local coffee market, where farmers had access to coffee but lacked suitable harvesting and processing facilities. The organisation began by purchasing home-processed naturals while building relationships with local producers, before developing into a trusted route for farmers to sell unprocessed cherries at fair market prices.

Revenue generated through exportation is reinvested into programmes focused on farmer training, education, facilities, and equipment, supporting producers in improving both quality and productivity. Agri Evolve now works with farmers across approximately 200km of the Rwenzori Mountains, with 23,885 farmers registered within their system as of 2025, alongside their own milling and export facilities.

THE COFFEE

This coffee is produced by Agri Evolve in Uganda’s Rwenzori Mountains, grown at 1,600 metres and selected from SL14 and SL28 varieties. Processed through anaerobic fermentation using a closed tub fermentation method, it represents the careful sourcing and quality-focused approach developed by Agri Evolve alongside local farming communities.

THE REGION

The Rwenzori Mountains are one of Uganda's most significant coffee-growing regions, where altitude and climate provide favourable conditions for arabica cultivation. Coffee production plays an important role in supporting rural communities across the mountain range, with Agri Evolve sourcing from farmers throughout approximately 200 kilometres of the region.

THE PROCESS

This coffee undergoes anaerobic fermentation using a closed tub fermentation method. During processing, the coffee is fermented in sealed containers, creating a controlled, oxygen-limited environment before drying. While anaerobic fermentation is often used as a broad term within speciality coffee, closed tub fermentation describes the specific method used for this coffee.  Careful control of the fermentation process allows producers to develop distinctive flavour characteristics while maintaining consistency and quality throughout production.

IN THE CUP

A vibrant and expressive coffee with notes of raspberry, marshmallow, and black tea. The cup combines fruit-driven sweetness with a delicate sweetness and refined tea-like structure, showcasing the character of the Rwenzori Mountains and the care taken throughout processing.

SPOTLIGHT LIMITED ROAST

Our spotlight, limited roast coffees are all ethically sourced from the best coffee farms and wash houses around the world. These small-batch or micro-lot coffees are from smaller harvests, which can not be farmed year-round. We find these rare and excellent coffees and lovingly hand roast them in small batches using our 5KG roasters, roasting daily to order for the freshest coffee possible. Due to their rareness and popularity, many of our spotlight coffees are restricted to 3 or 4 sacks only, meaning we're only able to roast 150-200KG of artisan coffee per release.
